How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked... For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor.

JEC DVBS 2011: Hope For Kids

God is indeed good and gracious! When I was told to be the coordinator for DVBS (Daily Vocation Bible School) this year, I declined the invitation because of some past experiences.  However, since I had undergone an EE kids training five to six years ago and found nobody to care for, I humbly took this as a challenge. I saw the loving hand of God preparing me in advance, sending people to help me, guide me and direct me, otherwise this task would not have been completed smoothly.

For the promotion for example, I did not know how to go about it.  One day, I attended a prayer meeting in UECP and I heard DVBS music at the lobby.  I noticed that the songs were related to what the church’s DVBS is having.  I thought it would be nice to have these songs in the church.  What was amazing was that when I tried to ask for a copy, the staff in that church gladly gave me one.  I brought it back with me, prepared the powerpointand flashed it the following Sunday morning.  Isn’t that great how God works?

Around 341 children registered this year with an average of 296 attendees per day.  I’m grateful to God that no major accidents happened and the weather was very good.   We had 15 classes this year handled by three male teachers and 12 female teachers.

Our program for this year is quite different from the previous years because we adapted EE Philippines. The theme is called “Hope for Kids.”  It has a very personal approach to allow the kids to assess their spiritual condition. They were also able to learn new spiritual songs and some dance moves, Bible verses, arts and crafts, and even games.  Hopefully the kids would be able to share what they learn not only to their own family members, but also to their friends and relatives.
