How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked... For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor.
Psalm 84

Discussion Questions:
1) Spend some time to memorize Matthew 6.3. Recite it to three people in your group, to
one person at a time.
2) Review the outline by reciting it together; use what you have written in the sermon-notes
page.
3) Our sermon gives an exposition of BLESSED. The Good News Translation (GNT)
translates it as ‘happy’ while The Living Bible (TLB) has ‘very fortunate’. What is the
difference(s) among these three?
3a) What wrong impression(s) can each easily produce in people’ minds?
3b) Which one is God/human-centered? Which one better reflects Jesus’ intended
meaning?
4a) What was the Jewish understanding of KINGDOM in Jesus’ times?
4b) What was our sermon’s exposition of the kingdom? How is this different from 4a?
4c) In what way(s) might one be personally acting like 4a? How can we avoid doing so?
5a) What was our sermon’s exposition of POOR IN SPIRIT?
5b) What’s the difference between 5a and being poor?
5c) When a person self-boasts for 10 minutes, then says ‘Praise God!’ in 2 seconds, is this
5a or being poor or what?
5d) How should we apply 5a in our speech? And in deeds?
