How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked... For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor.
Psalm 84

John 9: 1-3

My Sermon Notes from February 24, 2019 Full Text: John 9: 1-3

1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who
sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3
“Neither this man nor his parents
sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.
(約翰福音 John 9:1-3)

Discussion Questions:
(1) See 9.2-3. What are the three explanations as to why the man was born blind? Imagine
you are him. How would you feel if you were told the first explanation? And if told the
second? And if told the third?
(2) See 9.3. Is it right for God to make this man blind at birth in order to suit His purpose?
Why?
(3) Based on your discussion in (2) above, what attitude(s) should you have when
unpleasant things happen in your life?
(4) See 9.4. For you personally, what are some works of God which He wants you to do?
