How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked... For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor.

Our Heavenly Father’s Love

Luke 15:20-24, 31-32

My Sermon Notes from June 16, 2019 Full Text: Luke 15:20-24, 31-32

20 So he got up and went to his father.“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw
him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him
and kissed him.21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against
you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’22 “But the father said to his servants,
‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.
23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.24 For this son of mine
was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But
we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again;
he was lost and is found.’”
(路加福音 Luke 15:20-24, 31-32)

Discussion Questions:
1. In what ways and circumstances in your life have you felt like the younger son? Luke 15:11-19 In
your present circumstances imagine and notice our Heavenly Father as He waits for you, sees you
come back to Him, is filled with compassion for you, runs towards you, embraces you and kisses you,
forgives you, restores you to your position as His son. Luke 15:20, 22-24 How does that make you
feel? How can you respond to our Heavenly Father after all that He has done for you?
2. In what ways and circumstances in your life have you felt like the older son? Luke 15:25-30 In your
present circumstances, notice how our Heavenly Father goes out and pleads with you. Luke 15:28
Meditate on His words…”my son, you are always with me and everything I have is yours.” Luke 15:31
Notice our Heavenly Father’s heart to save the lost ones… “But we had to celebrate and be glad,
because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”Luke 15:32 How
does that make you feel? What is our Heavenly Father’s invitation for you? How will you respond?
