How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked... For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor.

Our Model Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

My Sermon Notes from December 1, 2019 Full Text: Matthew 6:9-13

name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give
us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our
debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’

Discussion Questions:
1. How is God inviting me to make changes in my prayer life as I follow Jesus’ pattern for prayer?
2. Prayer is all about my relationship with God. In what areas of this relationship can I
improve by praying with the right spirit?
3. In my everyday life, how do I experience God as my “heavenly Father”?
4. In what areas of my life do I need to pray “thy kingdom come, thy will be done”?
5. How has God blessed me every day with my “daily bread”? How does that make me feel?
What does that move me to be/to do for God?
6. What choices have I made that were inadequate responses to God’s love for me? I ask
for God’s loving forgiveness and healing. Who do I need to forgive in the same way God
forgave me? Ask God for the grace to forgive.
7. In what areas of my life do I need to pray “lead me not into temptation, but deliver from evil”?
